We are going to **change eramba’s user interface** in order to make it:

- simpler
- nicer
- quicker

To do it right, we hired a team of people that does this kind of thing for a living. We have added two frontend developers and a dedicated UX/UI guy that does this for a living. This project has been cooking for a few months and is now about to begin.

**What you should expect?**

The entire system will be migrated to a new user interface in phases, we have only certainty about the first two:

1- [login screen, password resets, we are preparing your account, etc](https://discussions.eramba.org/t/feature-new-ui-ux-for-login-screen/3766)
2- filters and all functionalities related to it (it will have “views”, use tabs, etc)

is very very likely we’ll continue with:

3- graphical reports (this will let you build your own charts out of the filter functionality)
4- new UI/UX for forms
5- landing pages of every module

**By when?**

Even when we hired additional staff to work on this project this is a mega project that of course will take 40 times longer that whatever we write here. Our plan for now includes phases 1 and 2 during 2024.

Updates:

- Development (backend and frontend) has begun on the login pages, we expect to release it around february.
- UX/UI is nearly done for modules landing page (filters, menu options, views, etc). We have interviewed many customers and partners to get their feedback, we thank them all for the support. We plan to start working on this in late January, we do not know when it will be completed yet.

A quick snap of the new UX/UI:

There are some updates on the reviews of risks, assets, third parties. As you can see eramba will have a new “View” button that will display the item in two panels, left the actual form and right a new activity log view that summarises: notifications, changes, comments and attachments, changes of statuses and reviews.

The functionality is taking shape already, we are doing early testing and refining the usability:

selecting an item on the module and clicking “View”

 ![image](https://discussions.eramba.org/uploads/default/original/2X/d/d91fe163f2eabb5a0774b326d1a00e5af7dfc53d.jpeg)

takes you to this window, left right item details and report, right side the activity log (where you can search, filter, sort, etc)

A few questions that arose during testing of the detailed view:

- **Comments and attachments**
What should happen after clicking on the comments and attachments icon on the index page?
Should there be a separate modal, or do we want to reuse the detailed view modal and filter only comments? Another option would be to show only the right side with comments.

- **Comments counter**
Should it include comments on widgets?
Would it be easier to remove the option of commenting on separate widgets (activity log records) and leave it only for reviews and audits widgets? This way, comments would still relate to the child item as they do now.

- **Unseen comments**
How should these be handled — highlighted?
What about unseen comments on widgets?

- **ACL**
We have two options here:

1. ACL for the whole detailed view action
  - Activity log and comments would be removed, which would simplify the ACL setting.

2. Separate ACLs

- View
  - Allow: you see item details, you see the activity log for the item and reports (you dont see comments and attachments)

- Comments and attachments
  - Today: Index, Add, Delete, Download Attachment (for each comment and attachment)
  - Suggested: Index, Add, Delete (this will apply to both comments and attachment)

- Activity log (section)
- Stays as today, a separate ACL for this

Note: If I disable the detailed view, am I still able to perform a review?

- **Child items**
I suppose we would like to see child items merged into the parent item’s activity log.
For example:
Policies should show points where reviews were performed
Internal controls should show audits and maintenances
Risks should show reviews
