If I create a new custom field in the Program Scope module (this example is called Owner), set the field type to Custom Role and then try and use the macro in a report it shows ‘%PROGRAMSCOPE_CUSTOM_FIELD__OWNER%’ when the report is run and not the actual Owner that has been set.

It is working fine on demo-e, see the screenshot. Have you inserted the macro correctly from the text widget dropdown?
That’s really odd! I tried it a few times yesterday and it didn’t work, just tried it again using exactly the same method and it’s working now, so not sure what was happening. Apologies!
Could you have been viewing the cached report?
No I definitely refreshed the report or I thought I had!!!
